Alan Tudyk

Alan Tudyk was born in El Paso, Texas. Tudyk studied drama at the Methodist-affiliated Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, Texas where he won the Academic Excellence award for Drama, and spent time studying at Juilliard.

Tudyk has had guest roles in a number of TV series including Arrested Development and CSI, but is perhaps best loved for his role as Hoban “Wash” Washburne in the TV series Firefly which aired in 2002.

In 2000, Tudyk had roles in the movies 28 Days and Wonder Boys and in 2001 Tudyk played Wat in A Knight’s Tale and Monte in Hearts in Atlantis.

Tudyk provided the voices for Oscar & Dab the Dodo in the annimatied feature Ice Age, a role reprised in Ice Age 2 and the Ice Age video game.

In 2004 Tudyk played Steve the Pirate in Dodgeball and performed the voice for Sonny in I Robot in addition, all the movement and expression of Sonny the robot was based on Tudyk’s performance.

In 2005 Tudyk reprised the role of Wash in the feature film Serenity. Much to the delight of all Browncoats, he returned as one of the major players in the film, and also possibly the funniest. Much to their dismay, he was then killed off. There is still hope that he will return to the role of Wash in any future Serenity projects – somehow.

Recent films include a brief but memorable role in Knocked Up, an hilarious accidentally drugged Simon in the British comedy Death at a Funeral, a supporting role alongside Christian Bale and Russell Crowe in 3:10 to Yuma and the 2008 film Meet Market.

Stewart McKenny

Stewart is one of Australia's most prolifically published comic book artists and has worked for major publishers both within Australia and overseas, including Dark Horse, Marvel and this year, for the first time, DC.

Stewart has just been officially confirmed as part of the 'art squad' working on DC's new DC SUPER FRIENDS title - part of the company's revamped Johnny DC line for kids. "It's a new art style again...but, hey, I'm getting versatile in my old age", Stewart was heard to say. Thankfully his versatility is a joy for his fans to enjoy.

Stewart is excited about the opportunity to demonstrate once again his uncanny ability to adapt to new styles and techniques. This foray into the world of children's comics is something he is particularly keen to continue - as the children are the future of the industry, and as a diehard 'fanboy' himself, the opportunity to be part of creating a whole new generation of comic fans is too good to miss! At GenCon he will be giving a sneak peek at the sample art that secured the gig (for those dying to break into the industry, or the chronically curious), and he is always happy to check out the work of budding artists - particularly the kids.

His recent overseas credits include his fourth contribution to the extremely popular kids’ series STAR WARS: CLONE WARS ADVENTURES (based on the popular animated television series). He has also worked for Marvel Comics on CAPTAIN AMERICA (with Eddie Campbell) as well as STAR WARS TALES for Dark Horse.

Stewart spends his 'free' time working on comics for the pure enjoyment of it, and has been part of several overseas ‘indy’ publications including FUTUREQUAKE and MIKAYLA. His Aussie-published work can be seen in issues of ZERO ASSASSIN, TANGO QUATRO, POP CULTURE & TWO MINUTE NOODLES, REX HELLWIG and THE WATCH.

As an artist Stewart just likes to see people appreciating the diversity of talent that is the comic industry - he is an avid collector himself and draws what he likes - encouraging others to do the same. "There is a plethora of tastes out there - just stick to your guns, hone your skills and maintain your determination and enthusiasm," is the advice he has for people trying to make it in the industry. He will be appearing and, (if you're lucky and get in quick!) sketching throughout the weekend. If you can't find him at his booth with The Hub Productions - he'll probably be off playing at a comic booth, admiring the art of everyone else, or buying toys...
